So many songs on this list evoke middle/high school for me. Sure, I was listening to a ton of 80s new-wave at the time - but I still listened to the local “alt-rock” station (independent even- eventually bought out by Clear-Evil-Channel) and was super thrilled when mtv2(M2) came out (even though I could only watch it at friends’ houses then).
